Scholarships & Reimbursements

Consistent with the goals of supporting nursing education in District 4, as well as supporting members of the Association, the Inland Empire Nurses Association (IENA) will award $1000 scholarship (s) annually to nursing students who are AAS, BSN, MSN, PhD or Doctorate program candidates.

Current Funds Available

Academic scholarships—must have been a WSNA member (and IENA member, so living in our catchment area) while in an RN-B or graduate program between 2019-today ($1000)—see IENA website for application form www.ienanurses.org

Lobby Day stipend reimbursement—up to $500 to help pay for expenses related to attending Nurse Lobby Day in Olympia on January 24, 2024—must apply prior to attending. (email details to admin@ienanurses.org to get approval – after event is over, send receipts for immediate reimbursement.)

WSNA convention stipend reimbursement—up to $400 to help pay for expenses related to attending the 2025 WSNA convention—must apply prior to attending (email details to admin@ienanurses.org to get approval – after event is over, send receipts for immediate
reimbursement.)

Certification reimbursement—to reimburse up to $300 for certification or recertification in a nursing specialty—must submit proof of certification and cost (email details to
admin@ienanurses.org to get approval – after event is over, send receipts and certification
certificate for immediate reimbursement.)

Professional development reimbursement—up to $250 to help pay for expenses related to attending continuing education program—must apply prior to attending (email details to admin@ienanurses.org to get approval – after event is over, send receipts and certification certificate for immediate reimbursement.)

CRITERIA

Criteria for RN Applicants

  1. Holds a current, unencumbered Washington Registered Nurse license.
  2. Member of WSNA/IENA in good standing.
  3. Has completed at least one year of an accredited online or campus-based Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master’s in Nursing, or a master’s degree in a health or education-related field, Ph.D., or Doctorate.
  4. Is currently carrying a minimum GPA of 3.0 in a nursing program (items 3 and 4 above do not apply if applying for specialty certification).
  5. Has demonstrated commitment to nursing as a profession, as evidenced in the applicant’s Goal Statement and letters of recommendation.

Criteria for RN Students

  1. Has completed at least one year in an accredited Associate in Nursing Program or Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.
  2. Is currently carrying a minimum GPA of 3.0 in a nursing program.
  3. Has demonstrated commitment to nursing as a profession, as evidenced in the applicant’s Goal Statement and letters of recommendation.

Degree requirements for nursing faculty teaching in prelicensure registered nurse or for RN to BSN education programs.

(2) A bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and from a nursing education program that is accredited by a nursing education accreditation body recognized by the United States Department of Education, and a graduate degree in a health or education related field from an accredited college or university

Criteria for Basic Degree Applicants

  1. Has successfully completed at least one year in an accredited ADN or BSN program.
  2. Currently carrying a minimum GPA of 3.0 in current nursing program.
  3. Demonstrated commitment to nursing as a profession as evidenced in applicant’s Goal Statement and in letters of recommendation.

Procedure

Submit a typed and completed application to the address below. If you have questions prior to the committee contacting you please email questions to admin@ienanurses.org.

 The application may be submitted electronically to the District office at admin@ienanurses.org.
Letters of recommendation and grade report need to be submitted electronically to admin@ienanurses.org

Arrange for two typed letters of recommendation to be received by the Scholarship Committee. The letters of recommendation should address the student’s work ethic and commitment to nursing as a profession. A current faculty member from the student’s school of nursing should write at least one letter. A faculty member or another professional colleague should write the other letter. 

Submit a copy of the most current grade report including cumulative GPA.

A Curriculum Vitae may be submitted in place of the academic education and professional experience sections of the Scholarship Application Form.
